“Ancient summers ago when I was 12, I was attracted to the tales of macabre and the fantastic. I tried with all my might to read the delirious ramblings of Poe. Horror and suspense and the works of artists that promoted otherwordly events were intellectually fascinating and somehow often overlooked. Early in my career I saw Tim’s short film ‘Vincent’ and completely fell back to those early influential days of loving the genre. Vincent Price was someone unnatainable and larger than life, and here was a story about a bored young boy who wanted to be him. it is a genius piece of animation and storytelling. It was a secret gem of mine. I watched it on my old VHS player often. Then I worked with Tim on several projects, one of them ‘Edward Scissorhands.’ Vincent Price was in it, at 79 years of age, still larger than life and suddenly attainable.” - Shane Mahan, Art Department Coordinator, Stan Winston Studios, ‘Edward Scissorhands’

I went to the Tim Burton exhibition in Paris. So great ! ♥
Hundreds of drawings, paintings, sculptures, poems and short films created by a true genius. A mixture of bright colors and music.
When my father was introduced to Tim Burton and to his artwork, the word I would use for his initial response was ‘tickled.’ I remember him telling me about this wonderfully quirky and immensely talented young Disney animator, who had created a short film about a young boy who wants to grow up to be Vincent Price. My Dad loved everything about it - the quality and originality of the pen-and-ink drawings, the Poe-like verse, and, of course, the recognition of his influence on Tim’s (and by proxy other fans’) childhoods. He was flattered, bemused, intrigued, touched, and excited! In a way, Tim’s project brought together many of the most important parts of my dad’s life - art, horror, humor, poetry - and gave them back to him in the most fitting tribute anyone could have paid. My dad knew it, and he was both moved and grateful. - Victoria Price
